It seems that the more I have to do the more I am given to do.  Sometimes it appears that my time at work is spent making sure I keep all the balls in the air without dropping anything.

Perusing my tasks list just makes it seem even bigger.  In one day I am an HR manager, budget-maintainer, compliance officer, academic, ICT support, timetabler, secretary, curriculum developer, photocopy repair person, admin assistant, dispute resolution person, student academic counsellor, mentor, receptionist, sales person, customer service officer, cleaner, furniture mover, principal and manager.

It is bliss to come home to my favourite job, that of mother.  No matter what else happens I always get joy from this.  Whether my children are with me or away from me nothing can ever take away this special role.

I am all those other things at work but primarily I am and always will be a mother.  The joy I get from seeing my kids and grandkids will always provide me with the anchor I need to balance out the chaos of work.  Five minutes with the family erases the stress of a day of work.  A smile from one of my babies will always bring peace and happiness.  Their voice on the phone can bring respite from an otherwise busy existence.

I am blessed to have my children and am proud of all they have become.  This achievement far outweighs professional and educational successes.

And it always will.
