So another year has gone by.  How quickly time flies!

At this time of the year I like to consider what has happened and what is yet to come. What happened in that blink of an eye that was 2012? I completed a Certificate III in Library Studies and started a Diploma course. I co-presented a session at a conference.  I spent a lot of time at work and achieved a lot of things during that time. I reached a milestone in terms of my time at my current workplace. One of my pet projects at work came to an end. I met a lot of people over the year and participated in a lot of forums. (SIDENOTE: Even after all this time I still have to overcome the nerves for each presentation or new situation. You’d think I’d be over it by now!).

My baby moved back to Melbourne and I became an empty-nester. She achieved excellent results this semester and proved yet again what an intelligent young lady she is. My eldest daughter showed once more what a good mother she is as her beautiful daughter graduated from pre-school and her son turned one. My boys showed their creativity through their podcasts and blog. My eldest grandson spent more time with us and has demonstrated that he is an intelligent and witty ten year old.

Around the world we have witnessed successes and failures, tragedies and celebrations.  Many of these have been globlly unifying in that people from around the world have reacted to them and discussed them. World-wide wierd weather events have also created common conversational bases. The date for the Mayan apocolpse came and went with no discernable impact.

So what does 2013 hold? My baby turns 21, which I am still coming to terms with. My family will continue to be the source of joy and pride. Work will certainly be as busy, eventful and challenging as ever.  Completion of my Diploma is foremost in my mind.  Once that has been done I will have more free time so I hope to have a few trips to Melbourne.

I’d like to think that 2013 holds an end to world problems but this is unlikely. What I do think is that, whatever it holds, 2013 will be a year of surprises and challenges.  What these challenges and surprises are remains to be seen.
